  • Inspect the Caribbean hired car thoroughly before you leave the lot.
  • Stick to the contract's terms.
  • Return your Caribbean hired rental car on time.

Each Car rental company possess their own set of rules and regulations which the renter would be informed of upon collecting your chosen Caribbean rental car. Usually if the car you have ordered is unavailable, you the renter will be given another car from the same class, but however if all vehicles from that class are out, you will usually be upgraded.

Drivers must have a local driver's license. Licenses can be obtained from the majority of Caribbean car rental offices, or from any local Caribbean district Police Station. Most licenses are valid a full year giving you plenty of time to make a good use of it, so enjoy!

Drivers have to be between the ages of twenty-one and sixty-five and have a minimum of three years driving experience, however note that drivers between the ages of twenty-one and twenty-five may be required to pay more for car rentals in some Caribbean Islands.

Each Caribbean island has its own driving laws, so be aware of the below general rules of driving in the Caribbean :

- Seat belts are generally compulsory in the Caribbean.

- On most Caribbean islands, driving is English style on the left-hand side of the road. Some Caribbean car rental/hire companies have cars with steering wheels on both the left and right hand sides.

- A honk of a horn symbolizes a warning, an "excuse me”, but often is also used as a "hello" to a passing comrade.

- The rush hour is by and large from 7:00-8:30am and from 3:30-5:30pm. So plan ahead with this in mind!

- When a fellow motorist flashes his or her lights at you when at a junction it usually means, "I’ll go ahead after you", but be cautious!
